Camping in Lincoln National Park.
DURING 15 YEARS OF CARAVAN TRAVEL, MICHAEL
BROWNING HAS FOUND SOME AMAZING CAMPSITES.
HERE, HE SHARES SOME OF HIS FAVOURITES.
Free-camping is most useful if you’re
equipped for the experience – particularly
on your way to a national park or to an
idyllic beachside destination.
For others, it’s a way of stretching the
travelling budget; each night’s accommodation
saved is extra fuel in the tank, food on the
table, or the entrance fee for a local attraction.

The good news is that Australia’s
major highways are well-endowed with
them, some by shady creeks and others
on the outskirts of towns with major
tourist attractions.
A few also welcome visitors for long
enough in delightful surroundings to be
a holiday destination in their own right.
