IN LIVING
COLOUR
BUYING A NEW VAN MEANS CHOOSING YOUR
INTERIOR COLOURS. BUT WHERE TO START?
WORDS AND IMAGES: MIKE AND ANITA PAVEY
Choosing your interior colour scheme can be
a daunting task. Laminex for the benchtops
and table, seat furnishings, floorboard vinyl
and more. For some, choosing from a bunch
of swatches is almost an impossible task. It’s
a scenario played out regularly at our home-
grown offroad camper store. Customers
arrive with furrowed brows, stressed at the
responsibility of making their choice.
Some go the easy route and choose the
colour scheme from our display campers.
Others ponder the selection from the swatches,
taking them out to the camper and trying to
visualise the colours together. Or they have a
go and seek help as required.
CLOTH VS LEATHER
One of the easier decisions is deciding between
leather and cloth seating. Leather always looks
great in any RV; it has a luxury look and feel,

taking appearance to the next level.
It’s generally easier to clean up after spills
with a quick wipe and keeps its appearance
with leather conditioner.
But it does require an additional investment.
Beyond appearance, leather can be
uncomfortable to live with. When it's hot, your
body can feel sticky and sweaty against it.
In cold conditions, leather isn’t as accommodating
as a cloth seat, imparting a cool feel. It’s nothing
a thin cushion can’t fix, though!
Generally, cloth seats are more accommodating
over a wider temperature range. Textiles such
as the Warwick range offer a quality fabric that
not only look great but will last for years.
There’s a range of colours from the light and
bright to more subdued greys and browns.
But they don’t fare so well with spillages.
Between them, it’s a personal choice
as to your preference.
