THE FRONT BOOT 1000 POP-TOPS AND COUNTING GOLDSTREAM RV HAS HANDED OVER ITS 1000TH POP-TOP. The handover took place in late March at Goldstream’s service centre, attended by the van’s buyers, Rob and Penny Cummings, Cardina Shire mayor Collin Ross, Goldstream director Steven Petrovich, and marketing manager Narelle Legg. Goldstream is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year; however, the company has been building pop-tops for only 22 years. The pop-top purchased by Rob and Penny is a 1760 Bunk model fitted with Goldstream’s Panther package. “We wanted something with offroad capability and we also liked the build quality,” Rob said during the handover. With two young daughters, Rob and Penny were also attracted to the layout, especially the two bunks at the rear of the van. “We needed the van to be family-friendly 50 gorv.com.au but also capable on rough roads,” Rob said. The couple had their new pop-top fitted with airbag suspension – not only for this suspension type’s abilities in offroad conditions, but because garage clearance at home is an issue. “We can drop the airbag suspension to the bumps stops and save 150-200mm (in height). To have an offroad- spec vans that we could get down to 2380mm, we needed that airbag suspension,” Rob said. The pair will tow the pop-top with a Nissan Patrol. They have the west coast, as well as an eventual big lap, in their sights. And what would a van handover of such significance be without a couple of extra presents? A 55L Cool-Ice icebox from Dometic and a $500 BP fuel card were thrown in, too. “To have built and sold 1000 pop-tops really is a major achievement for us,” Goldstream marketing manager Narelle Legg said. “We’e very proud.” From left: Goldstream co-director Steve Petrovich, Penny and Rob Cummings, and Cardina Shire mayor Collin Ross.
