arrive”, “the pump’s broken”
– we’ve heard it all before!
So we do need to be
occasionally flexible with
our ‘half-full rule’. And as
a general rule in remote
areas, we aim to keep our
main fuel tank no lower than
between the quarter and
half-full marks.
QUICK STOPS
We usually leave the caravan
hitched for overnight stops
and close the valve on our
grey water tank to save time
uncoiling and rewinding a dirty
waste hose. We then find a
suitable place, often at our
lunch stop, to drain it later.
When stopping for a period
of time in hot weather, it pays
to check the direction of the
wind and sun. A gusty breeze
on your entry door will ruin
outdoor cooking and flap your
awning canvas at night. We
also try to avoid facing the hot
setting sun while keeping the
heat off the side of the van
where the fridge is located.
