RV FEATURE
While 12 months of rego remains
unconscionably expensive in the ACT, the prices
have come down significantly in the last 18
months. Nonetheless, it’s almost as if the ACT
government doesn’t want people registering
their vans in the Australian capital at all.

VICTORIA
Finally, Victoria, the state in which to
live if you would like to pay next to
nothing to register your caravan. In fact,
a ‘light trailer’, a classification which in
Victoria includes caravans and camper
trailers, costs a mere $58.10 to register.
You read that correctly.
Victoria doesn’t even distinguish
between whether or not the trailer is
used for private, commercial or
government use. Bless you, Victoria.
NUMBERS UP
ADR 61/02 requires that all vans
have provision for a registration
plate to be secured to the rear of
the van no higher than 1.3m from
the ground. Police have been known
to issue fines for vans that don’t
comply, so it might be worth getting
out the measuring tape!
