There seems to be no end to the ongoing
proliferation of caravanners and campers hitting
our roads. Last year, the Caravanning Industry
Association of Australia reported record growth
in the sector, with Australians taking more than 12
million caravan and camping trips, contributing
many billions of dollars to the Australian economy.
Those figures are staggering and represent a
potential bonanza for Australia's caravan parks
and the industries that support them.
However, if you talk to many park operators,
you’ll find this isn’t the case for all of them. Many
are struggling with the costs to upgrade their
parks to meet the demands of patrons in the face
of rising competition from showgrounds and
free camps.
