RV OPINION
DO YOU STAY AT VAN PARKS? HAVE YOUR SAY...
What's more, many caravan parks offer so much
more than just power and water. Swimming
pools, wi-fi internet access, regular-sized
washing machines and dryers, not to mention a
complete garbage disposal service. Staying at a
modern caravan park is akin to bringing the best
comforts and conveniences of home along with
you on your holiday.
GETTING CREATIVE
Some caravan park owners have come up with
unique ways to attract visitors. Many put on a
regular pancake breakfast or an evening billy
tea. The caravan park at Innot Hot Springs, Qld,
offers its guests free access to a number of hot
mineral baths of varying temperature. A welcome
luxury after a long day's drive.
If you're a family, keeping the kids entertained
while free-camping can be challenging, especially
after the batteries in their iPods have run flat.
Family caravan parks offer parents a well-earned
break, providing facilities and activities to keep
kids entertained for hours, such as water slides,
jumping pillows and games rooms. The Big 4
Cairns Coconut Resort is just that, a full-on
holiday resort sporting its own full cafe and bar,
spa baths, an outdoor movie theatre, a water
park, tennis courts and mini golf. Getting all this
for as little as $33 per night (two adults) for Big 4
members is incredible value for money.
If you're travelling with fur babies, many caravan
parks are pet friendly. Some go a long way
to making your pet's stay as comfortable as
possible. Best Friends Holiday Resort, located
in the picturesque Tarra Valley in Victoria's east,
offers individual fenced sites, multiple off-lead
areas, a hydro bath, as well as a day care area
where your dogs can sit on their own lounge suite
and watch Lassie on TV! I kid you not.
IT’S THE SERVICE
More and more van parks
cater for fur babies.

For us, the biggest attraction of caravan parks
is the friendly service we receive from the park
managers and staff. In almost every caravan
park we've stayed, we've found the staff to be an
invaluable resource. They are full of helpful advice
about what to see and do in the area, which pubs
and restaurants offer the best meals, or even
where all the good fishing spots are.
