RV OPINION
The camaraderie of caravan parks...
Recently, we spent our first Christmas on the
road, away from our family and friends. We stayed
at the Islands Caravan Park in Streaky Bay, SA,
and the managers, Mick and Lindsey, hosted a
Christmas Day happy hour (actually it was more
like four hours!) for all the guests. It was a lovely
gesture.
SUMMING UP
There's no question that free-camping is
becoming more popular, especially for the
budget conscious or adventurous traveller. That
said, there will always be a place for caravan
parks in the Australian holiday landscape and, as
more owners and managers find innovative ways
to attract visitors, there's no question they will
always get their fair share of the 12 million trips
taken by Australians each year.
As a traveller, if you ever find yourself questioning
the costs of staying in a caravan park, perhaps
have a friendly chat to the park managers about
what they can offer in addition to the effort
that goes into making your stay as comfortable
as possible. You'll find, for the majority, they
represent excellent value for money.
Safe travels.
