RV TRAVEL
I'd visited Hamilton, Vic, before on a flying visit
with my Probus Club but hadn't realised what a
dynamic town it was until I returned for a weekend
muster with the Gippsland Gypsies Branch of the
Australian Caravan Club.
The park has a selection of
well-equipped cabins.
With beautiful botanical gardens, thriving
wineries an easy drive away, the Ansett Museum,
an art gallery, an interesting motor museum, and
plenty of shops, cafes and hotels, Hamilton has
lots to offer.
We stayed at the lovely Lake Hamilton Motor
Village and Caravan Park – a slight misnomer,
really, as the lake is on the other side of the highway
– but it's near enough that it's in walking distance.
FLORAL DISPLAY
The park has a different floral
display every month.
Lake Hamilton Motor Village and Caravan Park
owners Barry and Tania Traynor have been at the
park for 14 years and during that time have made
many improvements, including planting lots of
trees and shrubs. “We have a different floral
display every month,” Barry told me. “It starts
with the pear trees and continues throughout
the year.”
Besides powered caravan sites they have a
selection of well-equipped cabins. A recent
innovation are the sprinklers fitted on top of the
taps – so much better that dragging hoses around.
The park's well-kept swimming
pool is no-doubt popular.
With two fully-equipped barbecues and a
spacious functions room complete with easy
chairs and a television besides plenty of chairs
and tables, the park is attractive for groups like
ours. A sparkling swimming pool is right next to
the recreation room.
The ablution block is modern and spotless, and
there are two unisex toilets behind one barbecue
and camp kitchen. The park has a convenient
dump point near the amenities block.
