Do you prefer bush-camping or staying in a van park?
PAY IN FULL, NOW
I was shocked to find this year when I booked a
caravan site at Tweed Coast Holiday Parks that
you no longer just pay a deposit but you must pay
in full when you book for the next year.
Many caravanners like to plan ahead when they
are at their favourite van parks for the next year.
On contacting the management I was informed
this was their new policy and it is the trend now.
I am amazed as this is a Tweed Shire Council-
owned holiday park and when I asked what they
did with the moneys collected in advance, they
said it goes into consolidated revenue. Surely
such funds should be held in a trust fund.
WOLLONDILLY CAMPING
I was interested in your article on bush camping
(GoRV #24). I have a farm on the Wollondilly
River, NSW, with camping and cannot speak
kindly enough of Youcamp, which now has nearly
600 farms on its books.
I owned Cub Campers for 50 years and my website
is bowralglampingandcamping.com

CASE FOR BUSH-CAMPING
My sceptical view is that it is another way for councils
to balance their budgets. I cannot see that it is fair
or ethical to demand full payment for services that
will only be provided in 12 months’ time. What
other companies can charge in this manner?
l would like to hear from readers if this indeed is
a trend. lf it is, we as consumers need to respond
and boycott this alarming trend until they come
to their senses.
