While various types are available to suit different
trailer types, from box trailer to caravan, the
3.5-tonne Easy-Fit version is the company’s most
popular. At its highest point, it’s only 125mm high,
giving it quite a low profile.
They are also very easy to hitch up, thanks to
the unique shape of the receiver that bolts to the
towbar. This receiver will guide the horizontal,
cylindrical coupler into position as the tow vehicle
is reversed. A special arm will flick up and back
down automatically, locking the coupling. Then,
it’s simply a matter of sliding in a safety pin and a
separate locking pin.
The McHitch is unique in that it doesn’t use a ball
or pin attachment; rather the horizontal coupler
‘docks’ with the receiver. With the addition of an
adaptor pack, it is also WDH-compatible.
