MANUFACTURER LIMITATIONS
Here’s an important one. Does the manufacturer
of your proposed new tow vehicle apply any
limitations or special requirements to the vehicle
when it’s used to tow a trailer?
For example, some vehicle manufacturers require
the vehicle not be driven above a certain speed
when towing, while others don’t endorse or won’t
warrant the use of a weight distribution hitch.
Others, still, require their use, while some might
only recommend them.
Further, if a WDH is not allowed by the
manufacturer of the vehicle, what are the options
to mitigate the inevitable rear sag? Are there any
obstructions to accessing the cargo space when
hitched up? What are the tow-mirror options for
this vehicle?

And then there’s the availability of servicing and
repairs around the country. That Porsche Cayenne
might have through-the-roof show-off factor, but
trying to get a handbook service in the back of
beyond, or even a fan belt replacement, would be
enough to make grown men cry.
