RACK ’N’ ROLL Are your van and 4WD cargo spaces chockers? If so, you need a cost-effective storage solution. Enter the Rhino-Rack Pioneer range of rooftop trays, which are made from aluminium and fibreglass reinforced nylon. According to Rhino-Rack, the low profile of the trays in the Pioneer range minimises wind drag and noise on the road.
The range is comprised of the Pioneer Platform, which has no side rails for easy gear loading; the Pioneer Tradie, with welded rails on two sides that act as tie-down points; and the Pioneer Tray, with a front wind fairing and fully welded side rails.
Because they are powder-coated, these rooftop trays shouldn’t rust or fade. They are also backed by a five-year warranty.
MORE INFO RRP: $519 (Platform); $819 (Tradie); $979 (Tray)

BY THE NUMBERS Australia: it’s caravanning country
Without doubt, Australia is a caravanning country. Caravan and campervan (motorhome) registrations have steadily increased over the last five years, but did you know that registrations of caravans far outweigh campervans?
In fact, the number of registered caravans on Australian roads has increased by 30 per cent since 2011, while campervans have grown 20 per cent, according to the Caravan and Camping State of Industry report, published by the Caravan Industry Association of Australia.
As of January 2016, the total number of combined caravans and campervans in Australia was 615,301, representing a 4.9 per cent increase on the combined registrations number of the previous year.
The number breaks down to 554,344 caravans and 60,957 campervans registered by the year ending January 2016.
So there you have it: not only are there many more caravans on our roads than campervans, but, using registration numbers as a guide, recreational vehicles represent the fastest growing vehicle segment in Australia.
