But even as bushfires continued to burn so much of our country, the Australian spirit wasn’t dampened. Tales of selfless acts, including people rushing to save wildlife at risk to themselves, shone through the orange blaze. Naturally, this is an ideal fit for the RV community. Rather than stocking up at home or the major chain supermarket, we should all keep our cupboards and fridges as bare as possible, and only fill them up in fire- affected regions. A long period of recovery will follow. For people. For towns. For our natural landscapes. The ‘Empty Esky’ is one of my favourite campaigns designed to aid the effort. The Coles or Woolworths can wait. These regional retailers and producers can’t. idea is to encourage people to visit a fire- affected community once it reopens for business with an empty Esky and fill it up with local produce. 02 \ I don’t mean to promote any one campaign over another. However, the notion that we should spend our money where it’s needed most is one that I think we can all get on board with.
