We can go to the beach, but how long that
will last is anyone’s guess. We are essentially
isolated in our caravan site, with nowhere to
go except to conduct essential travel such as
grocery shopping.
At the time of writing Western Australia has
closed off all its internal regional borders, so
we cannot leave Broome or the Kimberley
district unless it is absolutely necessary.
CONSTANT THREAT
We live with the constant threat of the park
closing and evicting us. So far, RAC and the
managers here at Cable Beach have been
excellent and have assured us we are fine for
the foreseeable future.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for
others here in Broome. One park evicted its
non-permanent travellers, claiming they
posed a COVID 19 threat to the park’s
permanent residents. This was despite the
chain to which the park belongs sending an
email to its members reassuring that their
parks would accept grey nomads and allow
them to stay while the COVID 19 crisis
continued. The email also reminded members
to pay their membership fees.
Two couples from the park in question were
accepted at our park, which was a reassuring
gesture on their part. We figure there is
strength in numbers.
Sunset on Cable Beach, where Marty
and Kylie are riding out the crisis.
