DIY DREAMS
What you can and
can’t do yourself
WHEN THE WALLS CLOSE IN BY MAX TAYLOR
Six, eight, 12 weeks of staying at home. I’m not
sure anymore how long it has been, but I do
know the walls are starting to feel pretty close.
The good news: travel restrictions are starting
to relax. Victoria, for example, has announced
the reopening of caravan parks from June 1;
however, communal facilities in the parks,
such as amenities blocks, pools and
playgrounds, have to remain closed.
In other words: pack your portable dunny if your
van doesn’t have an onboard bathroom, and
make sure you have a way to entertain the kids.
Vic Parks estimates that 316 van parks will
open from June 1 – a good start.
While other states continue their bunfights
over border closures, Western Australia has
opened most of its regional borders.
As Australia slowly wakes up from its long
slumber, like me after a happy hour that went
a little too long, I’m looking forward to the
time when we regain our freedom of travel, to
cross borders without fear of arrest or fine.
I hope you enjoy this issue of GoRV. I’ve been
spending more and more time in my garage,
catching up on many small jobs, one of which
you’ll read about this issue – my van’s jockey
wheel was being a pain, so a re-grease was
in order. It’s a surprisingly easy job!
Safe travels – when you can.
