LEVELLING THE RIDE
I have read the articles on caravan weights in
GoRV. I have had a caravan myself for many
years, and travelled many kilometres.
Caravans weights are critical but that is just
one part of safe towing.
I am seeing more caravans travelling on the
roads, with nose down, causing a ‘V’, which is
dangerous in an emergency breaking situation
and control of the caravan.
There are a number of reasons for this poor
weight distribution. I was taught that that the
caravan should be level. Yes, there are ways
to correct levelling problems, such as to
change the vehicle’s tow hitch or to use loadlevellers
for the caravan.
It is so easy to buy a caravan and take off on
a trip and have no experience towing or how
to set-up a caravan and vehicle correctly.
A story on this may be valuable.
