RV TRAVEL
RELAXING IN THE BUSH
Owners Graham and Debbie built the park 10 years ago . When Covid-19 hit Australia this year , the park had to close . But it ' s gradually picking up again , first with visitors just from Queensland , but RVers from other permissible states have started to arrive .
Having spent a fortnight in New South Wales , I was able to get a Queensland Border Declaration Pass and had a virus check before I left Albury , just in case .
The campfire at Charleville Bush Caravan Park is lit every night , and Graham gives interesting talks about the local area and its history . Before working in caravan parks , he lived in Cunnamulla and ran bus tours from his travel agency . He conducts bus tours from the park ; however , these tours are on hold until visitor numbers pick up .
A poster in the rec room tells of Graham and Deb ' s lives , and what fascinating lives they have led . Now , their ambition is to move to the coast and relax . Did I say relax ? They still intend running outback tours from their new home !
There ' s also a poster in the rec room showing the list of all the wonderful people who helped Graham and Deb set-up their parks .
CHARLEVILLE ATTRACTIONS
Charleville is about 680km from Brisbane in outback Queensland ’ s Murweh Shire .
The town has plenty of attractions , so Graham and Deb recommend vanners plan to stay at least three nights to get the most out of their visit .
The Historic House Museum has displays of the town ’ s bygone era , including the Cobb & Co coaches that had such an impact on the town once upon a time . On the topic of the town ’ s history , why not check out its Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre , which will provide insight into this essential outback service that ’ s still in use today .
