While you ’ re here , you must take advantage of the guided fossicking tours on offer . It ’ s great fun for all the family as you dig for garnets in the nearby gemfield . If digging in the dirt doesn ’ t tickle your fancy , you can purchase a bucket of gravel and search for the garnets without all the mess .
SUMMING UP
We chose these four parks because they offered more than just a typical van-park experience . The owners have gone out of their way to ensure their visitors have an experience they will remember for years to come .
They left an indelible impression on us , so much so we can ’ t wait to visit them again . We ’ re pretty sure you will feel the same way after your first visit .
Any gems you find are graded back at the station . Either way , it ’ s a great experience . We managed to find a few keepers during our time there . Anyone interested in astrophotography , or who just wants to see a spectacular night sky , will love this place – the night skies here are incredible .
The road to Gemtree is sealed right up to the front gate . It really is a no-fuss way to experience real remote outback camping .
