“ QProtect is a ‘ location on demand ’ system allowing the user to locate and receive notifications via the WiTiGPS app on their smartphone .”

A key benefit of QProtect is that it utilises a low-cost credit system . A credit is charged when an event / alert is activated . An alert is triggered when :

• The WiTi alarm is activated and has run for more than 10 seconds ;

• When the voltage on the caravan battery drops below 11.5V ( as WiTi is dependent on a battery with a good charge to activate the alarm and brakes );

• When the battery is disconnected , such as during an attempt to disable the alarm ; and

• If the caravan leaves a ‘ geofence ’.

QProtect entails an annual fee of $ 49 and 20 credits are supplied free of charge on registration or renewal of the annual subscription .

Another feature of Qprotect : odometer readings are included , as Qprotect automatically updates the location and distance travelled every 18 hours . This also ensures the SIM card is kept active ( SIM providers will switch off inactive SIM cards after a period ).

“ Another important feature to note is that WiTiGPS is provided with its own SIM card that operates on any available mobile phone network ,” Tony said . “ As soon as there is a signal , it will transmit . It ' s also a 4G device so it ’ s not affected by the planned shutdown of 3G networks in Australia in a few years time .”
