Lockdown in Victoria . There are plenty of reasons to be annoyed about the fourth period of mandatory quarantine . And plenty of reasons to be optimistic and grateful , too .
As I type , we Victorians are about to be ‘ released ’… and I will finally be able to attend to a job that has had to wait for a couple of weeks . You see , just before the latest Victorian lockdown , I managed to puncture the nearside tyre in my Goldstream camper . I hadn ’ t realised the tyre had a nail in it until a week after returning home from a quick trip to the south-east of the state .
I was giving the camper a clean when I noticed it was leaning to one side … and that ’ s when I saw the nail , which had lead to a slow leak .
The re-emergence of a certain virus in Victoria left me with no choice but to leave the tyre unrepaired , but it ’ s the first job on my list . I honestly can ’ t wait to hitch up the camper and get away for a few days . The southern winter has well and truly set in . Whoever coined the term ‘ Arctic blast ’ should be given a medal . I don ’ t think there has ever been a more apt description of Victoria ’ s winters !
