2 . THE ARTISAN FOOD TRAIL
Foodies will love the Twelve Apostles Gourmet Trail , a selfdrive experience that takes in a number of amazing food and wine producers along the coast and scattered amongst the inland crater country . On offer for your tastebuds are gourmet cheese , single malt whisky , wine , ice cream , chocolate , fudge , beer , olives and strawberries .
3 . CAMP OFF-GRID
Our favourite campsite was the Cumberland River Holiday Park , just a few kilometres south of the trendy seaside village of Lorne . The park is nestled in a lush green valley between cliffs and rolling mountains , bordered by the crystal clear Cumberland River that flows through rock pools into the Southern Ocean .
You are required to be selfsufficient when camping by the creek , with no power or water hook-ups available ; however , there are amenities and laundry facilities available , as well as a small onsite kiosk where you can purchase firewood . We loved feeling as though we were miles from anywhere , with the luxuries of Lorne just around the corner .
With so many highlights and natural wonders on offer , you could easily spend weeks exploring this incredible region !
