After intensive chemotherapy over five years , Grace beat this terrible disease and was given the “ cure ” word , allowing her to get on with living life . Life became normal again . Grace could start preparing for the rigours of grade six – or so we thought .
In 2019 , Grace was struck down again with a bad case of pneumonia , which saw her placed in ICU and on a ventilator for three weeks . After dodging another bullet and making a full recovery , two months later we received the terrible news that the cancer had returned and she had relapsed a second time with leukaemia , only this time the odds were against her and the chance of beating it a second time around were not good . In fact , “ not good ” was an understatement , with the family receiving the news that she had four to six weeks at best in which to live .
