It ’ s been a busy month here at GoRV HQ . Among my jobs for the month was to take another look at Tow Assist , potentially revolutionary towing safety technology that is just becoming available for new caravan buyers .

AL-KO gave the public a taste of its Tow Assist at this year ’ s Victorian Supershow , held in May . I had the opportunity to see for myself , as a passenger in the test rig , how it stabilises the van in the event of swerving or emergency braking manoeuvres . Tow Assist is much more than the ESC that we are all familiar with and , in the interests of safe towing , I really encourage you to take a look at it .

Meanwhile , the topic of inverters had been nagging the back of my brain . I personally don ’ t use them often but I know a lot of you do , so regular contributor Marty Ledwich put everything he knew about them into a story , which I ’ m sure you ’ ll find interesting – I know I did .

My power needs are usually taken care of by 12V and gas alone when I ’ m out on the road , but I ’ m starting to rethink everything . My thoughts are turning to fitting out my camper with a 400Ah lithium battery and an inverter of sizeable capacity … Should I do it ? Let me know what you think at info @ gorv . com . au
