LETTERS FROM THE ROAD

FIRST VAN OPINIONS
I am about to retire and with our kids all grown up and living their own lives , my wife and I finally want to hit the open road with a caravan , which is something we ’ ve always wanted to do . I have a 100 Series Land Cruiser to tow with , and am interested in people ’ s opinions in terms of what type of van to look at .

Hi David . First , I would suggest you be realistic in terms of the kind of travelling you ’ d like to do , and then go from there . If you are thinking in terms of offroad touring , you ’ ll need a van to match . However , just because your Cruiser affords decent towing capacity , that doesn ’ t mean you need to use it all . If it ’ s just the two of you in the van , you might consider opting for a smaller rig , which will lend itself to better fuel economy and be generally easier to handle . What do other readers think ? Write to info @ gorv . com . au to help David out . – Ed
VACCINATE TO TRAVEL
I live in New South Wales and am so sick of this closed-border bulldust . I know it ’ s probably necessary but I just want to get back on the road , and the only way that is ever going to happen is if we all suck it up and get the vaccine . I understand some people don ’ t want to , but I just don ’ t care about those uneducated opinions anymore . If you haven ’ t been vaccinated , please strongly consider doing so .

MY TOP THREE
Regarding the article ‘ Don ’ t Leave Home Without …’ ( GoRV # 54 ), the three items I wouldn ’ t leave home without are my musical instrument ( which in my case is highly portable and takes up very little space ), an e-reader and hiking boots .
