That ’ s not to say he could replicate absolutely every little thing . In some cases , too much time had passed . When replacing the cushions and upholstery for the dinette and front lounge , Andrew was unable to find the original green material , and simply didn ’ t like the look of the nearest match . Ultimately , he opted for the blue with gold highlights that you can see in the images . In fact , this change is the biggest departure from the van ’ s original condition that you ’ ll find .
Andrew tows this labour of love around his large property with a 1962 XK Ford Falcon ; however , it ’ s unlikely that you ’ ll ever see the Princess in a caravan park or on the road . This is strictly a showpiece , something to admire and remind us all of Australia ’ s caravanning heritage .
It will take its place among Andrew ’ s other restorations and collections , from a 26ft Aerolite bondwood van , to an old Don van and 1976 Statesman .
That ' s the cooker that was in the van when Andrew acquired it .
