A few weeks ago , I spent some time in Dargo , in Victoria ’ s amazing High Country , with three caravans by JB . We had two offroaders in the mix , along with the semi-offroad van on the cover of this issue , the 19ft 6in Dirt Roader .

It was fantastic to get back out there . Hauling the Dirt Roader up hill and down dale , over and along potholed , unmade roads was a pleasure . At the end of each day , after testing those three vans in a variety of conditions , we adjourned to the Dargo Hotel for a meal and a beer or three .

That trip was also an opportunity to catch up with some old mates . They towed the two offroaders across the Dargo River while I watched on beside the Dirt Roader . To be on the safe side , we chose not to take this semi-offroad rig for a swim . The JB Scorpion Sting and the Gator had no problems with the crossing . The climb out of the river was all mud – it took some back and forth , and some gunning of the throttle , but the guys got those vans up the other side in one piece .

My only regret : we didn ’ t get to stay longer . If you ’ ve never been to Dargo , put it on your list .
