RV FEATURE
We were fortunate to go away with experienced campers and that was helpful . We took a Weber barbecue , which was great for a roast , and thankfully we were close to town if we needed anything .
It was truly a wonderful experience . I am not ready to buy a van , but I think renting a few times a year is a perfect solution for now . We did eight days away . For me , that was probably one day too many . Seven days would be perfect .
Would I recommend renting a van ? For non-campers like myself , yes – go for the top-of-the-range van , one that ’ s like a hotel room . I found the entire experience liberating . I was prepared for it to be difficult but I found myself loving it . I ’ m looking forward to our 2023 trip and we may even do a long weekend with family before then . The van was brilliant – I was surprised and delighted .
TIPS
• Get good camping chairs , a camp table and a small side table if sitting around a fire for drinks ;
• Use an awning mat – it will help to prevent dirt from coming inside ;
• If you ’ re a first-timer , go away with experienced travellers , if possible ;
• Rent a van until you know what works – ours was perfect and it was great to learn to tow ; and
• Some small solar lights for outside at night would be helpful .
