FREE CAMPING ETIQUETTE
There are many resources available for finding suitable freecamps . A quick Google search might help , but there are plenty of apps and books available , too , such as Camps Australia Wide . Such apps may also list prices and also contain reviews from other travellers .
• Do take all rubbish ( including food waste ) with you ;
• Do park in a durable area ( so as not to damage the ground );
• Do observe fire bans where applicable ;
• Do minimise the impact of your campfire and ensure it is properly extinguished with water ;
• Do be mindful of your noise for the comfort of your neighbours ;
• Do leave only footprints and ensure the area is left just as beautiful as you found it ; and
• Do bring plenty of water , food , fuel , etc .

• Don ’ t feed or harm the wildlife ;
• Don ’ t leave rubbish / waste behind . If there are no public restrooms and you don ’ t have one in your RV , dig a hole 300mm deep and fill it in when you ’ re done ;
• Don ’ t free-camp in cultural heritage sites ;
• Don ’ t arrive after dusk . This can be noisy for your neighbours and dangerous as more wildlife are around and can be hit ;
• Don ’ t make a campfire if there is a fire ban in place ;
• Don ’ t empty grey water into or near any creeks or lakes ( it can harm the wildlife );
• Don ’ t take ‘ souvenirs ’ from the environment ( flora or fauna );
• Don ’ t stay longer than allowed ;
• Don ’ t free-camp where it is not permitted ( e . g . in urban areas )
