INSURANCE INCENTIVES
While I do not think that a licensed driver needs to undertake a separate physical test to be allowed to tow a caravan , I do think that an additional written test should be encouraged . Such a test could be ‘ open book ’, as its main purpose would be to ensure that the driver was aware of the differences and other problems , etc ., involved with towing a caravan .
A towing ‘ endorsement ’ on a driver ' s licence could possibly be encouraged if insurers offered a discount or some other incentive to the insurance cover of such endorsed drivers .
Anything that makes the roads safer for all users is worth consideration .

NO MORE RULES AND REGS !
I ’ m against any more rules and regulations . I am picking up my first van in February and I have a Medium Rigid truck licence , which I have had for over 20 years . For my employment , I have towed dualaxle trailers , so I have experience and I believe the only way to learn is to experience it personally .
Courses create anxiety and unnecessary stress . I believe most caravan owners are over 30 years of age , so if you have only had your licence for less than 10 years , then , yes , do a course .

SPEED LIMITS NEEDED
I am one of those people who tows a van and have seen a lot of things going on with other people who have vans on the road . I agree that it is not a good idea to have a separate licence for towing , but I do think there should be a speed limit set , as there is in Western Australia , for those towing . I have seen too many vans going at a speed that is very dangerous .
