If you ’ re new to caravanning and camping and have never used your setup before , it ’ s a good idea to try it all out in the dry weather before you leave for your holiday . You don ’ t want to struggle with a new setup in pouring rain . It ’ s not a lot of fun and it can get your dream holiday off to a bad start . A dry run also allows you to identify any faults or issues with your gear that you can resolve before you leave .
Keep yourselves entertained . Understandably , the rain might mean your normal holiday activities are out of the question but that doesn ’ t mean you have to sit around moping about the weather . There are always plenty of other things to do when it rains . Taking a drive around the area and visiting the local attractions can still be a lot of fun . Wineries , restaurants and cafés can be great spots to whittle away the hours and stay dry at the same time . Museums and cultural centres offer the opportunity to find out more about the history of the area you ’ re staying in .

A caravan park that offers artificial turf and concrete slabs is a real bonus in the wet weather .
Or why not get out and take some photos of the local scenery ? Dark storm clouds totally transform most landscapes and modern cameras will take advantage of this , producing truly amazing images .

There are literally thousands of weather apps available for both Android and iOS and some are much better than others . We have tried many different apps and these are the ones we use the most especially for ‘ predicting ’ when rain and severe storms are likely to arrive .
Weatherzone : This app provides the most accurate 10-day weather forecast using data from both the Bureau of Meteorology as well as its own sources . It can be set-up to give weather forecasts for your location based on your device ’ s GPS or you can manually select a town and see what the weather will be like at that location .
