ROAD CLOSURES INFORMATION
Over the last few months , much of the country has been floodaffected and this has meant the travel plans of many people have been thrown into disarray . As a result , we have seen an increase in the number of people asking for road conditions on caravanning and camping Facebook groups .
This has concerned us greatly as much of this advice can come from people with absolutely no experience or knowledge of the conditions . Much of the information , while offered in good faith , can be out of date . Relying on this information can be dangerous and potentially life-threatening .
If you need to get up-to-date road-closure information , please stay away from social media . Get your information from the appropriate state road authorities . Most of them have live road data displayed on a map so you can see at a glance the most current road closures .
This illustrates the expression " if its flooded , forget it ". You have no way of knowing what damage has been done to the road by flood water .
Many of these state authorities have their own phone app that makes accessing this data on the move very easy .
