RV FEATURE
The water-resistant , embossed surface appears to be very durable and I ’ m told it also improves light absorbance by five per cent . The built-in USB regulator ensures fast and stable charging .
The 6W and 11W panels have a single USB outlet , whereas the top of the range 20W features two USB outlets .
WHAT ’ S IN THE BOX ?
Each panel comes with a micro USB cable ( two for the 20W model ) featuring an Apple Lightning adaptor . The cables are high quality and look much more durable than the standard USB cables supplied with most devices . If you need to charge a USB-C device , you ’ ll need to use your own cable .
You also get two small carabiner clips for attaching the solar panel to just about anything you can think of .
There ’ s also a small user guide , which is actually worth reading for reasons I ’ ll explain later .
BEAM Outback solar panels offer USB charging anywhere as long as the sun is shining .
The 11W and 20W models have these handy zippered pockets to hold the cables and carabiners .
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
As soon as you open the box , you can see these are not some cheap novelty items . The solar panels are made from high-quality materials that appear to be extremely durable . All the panels have holes in each corner for attaching the carabiners . The 11W and 20W panels feature metal eyelets for extra strength .
As I mentioned earlier , the USB cables are far superior to regular charging cables . They are covered in a woven fabric insulator that won ’ t split apart . The micro USB to Apple Lightning adapter is permanently attached to the cable by a rubber holder , so you will never lose it .
