Investing in the right refrigerator for your RV is a must . Remember too that it ’ s also about the supplier . Always ask your potential supplier how it would respond to issues , if it has a support network and , most importantly , if it has spare parts available .
Finally , ensure that your refrigerator has its credentials checked and carries valid certifications . Most refrigerators would have a sticker inside showing that they are globally certified ( CE ), AGA approved , to name a few .
Absorption fridges are commonly known as three-way fridges , while compressor fridges are also known as 12V and two-way fridges .
ABSORPTION REFRIGERATORS
Absorption refrigerators have three power sources : gas , 12V DC ( from the van ’ s house battery ) and 240V ( AC ). They use absorption technology which , in simple terms , uses a heat source generated by a gas burner or electrical element to drive the cooling system . A physical reaction without moving parts causes a heat-exchange inside the refrigerator .
These fridge types are ideal for those who plan to travel for long periods , allowing the user to alternate between different power sources as needed – a standard 9L gas cylinder can last up to three weeks , depending on usage , of course .
