Inside an unassuming RV repair factory in Bayswater North , Vic , a Don Cadet believed to be from the late 1950s or early ’ 60s is being slowly given a new lease on life .
Andrew Phillips , the man behind this restoration – and many others – could be fairly called a caravan resto enthusiast . He has restored vintage vehicles , old bondwood vans , and a 1965 Coronet Princess , to name a few . Not many people in Australia would have the same skill and knowledge that he brings to the dinette table .
Regular readers of GoRV might recall our visit to the RV Repair Centre to check out his latest project in mid 2022 . The Don Cadet was in a sorry state of disrepair , with part of the offside wall literally being held together by duct tape . It had just arrived at Andrew ’ s factory and he was still deciding what to do with it .
The plywood Cadet dates from around 1958 or ’ 62 . While Andrew still has plenty of work ahead of him , there has been some progress …
