Now and again , I spot a nugget of wisdom on social media , difficult as that might be to believe . Such was the case recently . It was about accepting how others travel and camp without judgement .

The social post read : “ To the folks who just showed up in the 43ft , $ 200,000 fifth wheeler that costs double my house , you have a beautiful rig … To the folks who are down in the woods in a bivvy tent , you guys are hard-core – awesome setup … To the folks who took that last site that nobody wanted , you pulled in and started cooking – your dinner smells delightful .”

The point is , you have to forget how you camp , and remember why you go camping . It ’ s no good comparing what you have to what others have . The fancy equipment , the big rigs , the latest 4WDs … these are just gear and vehicles to make the experience easier . I am the first to admit that things like portable lithium battery stations worth $ 2000 and high-end luxury caravans worth $ 130,000 do make time on the road easier . But if your intentions aren ’ t to have fun , to make memories and be with the ones you love , well , what ’ s the point ?
