FREEDOM CAMP OF THE MONTH
Nindigully and Normanby Gully are both home to interesting old pubs , and beautiful free waterside camps . However , Harrisville Royal Hotel , located in the Scenic Rim of Queensland , is also believed to be haunted !
I ' m told that Margaret Wholey Dunn was one of Australia ’ s first female publicans , and she is one of the reasons paranormal groups continue to visit the hotel today .
We met the new publicans , Kath and Jayd , who have made many improvements over the last year or so . You can enjoy live music on a Sunday afternoon and Thursday is parma night . In addition , camping is welcomed Wednesdays to Sundays .
You can set-up on the huge , grassy area behind the pub , right next to Normanby Gully . It is free to camp , pets are welcome and they offer toilets but no showers . Fires are allowed and there are kayaks that you can borrow .
We can certainly vouch for the friendly hosts and a yummy lunch . Scenic Rim Mushrooms is just up the road – there is so much local produce in the beautiful Scenic Rim . It is also a region to get outdoors and explore lakes , walks and national parks .
