RV TRAVEL
As you might know , we ’ ve been testing a 2023 Isuzu MU-X LS-T for the last few months . This includes testing its economy at the bowser . A couple months ago , we presented the results of our unhitched driving test , in which we achieved a diesel usage figure of 8.65L / 100km , a little more than Isuzu ’ s claimed figure of 8.3L / 100km combined city / country driving .
The Goldstream weighed 2700kg .
This time , we hitched up a van weighing 2700kg from Goldstream RV , and hit the highway , heading towards Traralgon , Vic , along the Princess Highway . The vast majority of the test was highway kays , since that ’ s what we would mostly do when caravanning , and in the first leg of the trip , I was travelling into a strong headwind , which I feel increased fuel consumption slightly . That said , I had the wind at my back for some of the return journey .
Upon returning home from Traralgon , I topped up the tank after initially trickle-filling it to the brim before I set off earlier in the day . According to the bowser , the MU-X had burned through 39.85L of diesel , while the trip-meter revealed that I had towed the 2700kg Goldstream 235.5km .
