TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
We learned that Julie first opened her shop in the South Australian town of Hahndorf before moving it to Kaniva . Julie ’ s love of puppets came from when she was eight years old , when she saw the Tintookies Puppet Show , which opened her eyes to the world of puppets and inspired her to become a puppeteer herself . Luckily , Julie now owns one of the original Tintookies puppets , which shop visitors can view in-store in a glass display case . The puppet shop will bring out the inner child of anyone . If you have kids , they ’ ll absolutely love it !
After enjoying a local sausage roll , we picked up some desserts from Little Guys Pizza & Café and made our way to Kaniva ’ s silo art . The impressive vivid blue silo features the Australian hobby bird and the magenta-coloured plains sun orchid . Other sites you can see when visiting Kaniva are the Billyho Bushwalk and Broughton ' s Waterhole , just to name a couple .
Kaniva provides a few accommodation options in and around town , including the Kaniva Poolside Caravan Park and Commercial Hotel . Alternatively , if you have a self-contained RV , you can free-camp in the nearby town of Nhill , at Nhill RAAF Base ( camping donations welcomed ). Nhill is another great town to visit , but we ’ ll leave that story for another day .
Kaniva is a relaxing place to stop and stretch your legs , enjoy the town , or stay a night or two . It ‘ ticked our boxes ’, especially being a very pet-friendly town .
