TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
Meters from Australia Rock , we saw that people were gathering on the edge of the inlet path , where it met the water . Wondering what all the fuss was about , we headed over and discovered seals were frolicking in the water and sunbaking on the rocks . The seals made for great photos as they played in the water and rested . Understandably , signs advised you could not touch the seals and to keep a relative distance for their wellbeing . As the area where the seals were wasn ’ t pet-friendly , we took turns to see them .
While we were in town , we were also advised to visit the Lighthouse Museum , which shares the same building as the town ’ s information centre . It ’ s not hard to miss when you ’ re driving down the main road as the centre has a three-storey-high replica lighthouse connected to it .
The museum was free to enter and provided plenty of information about lighthouses , how they operate , and the stories of those who ran them . From the information centre , visitors can also book boat tours to Montague Island .
We also checked out Mill Bay Boardwalk . This 350m-long boardwalk runs along the north side of the Wagonga Inlet and connects the Mill Bay boat ramp with Apex Park . The boardwalk allows you to take in the watery playground where schools of fish , stingrays , dolphins and seals regularly appear . The boardwalk is quite wide , with many cyclists taking in the views . And with the water so clear , it was like you were looking into an aquarium .
Not far from the boat ramp , we found Bar Beach South , which was a pet-friendly beach – where Twyla finally got her run on the sand . She was one happy pooch .
