RV FEATURE
All Goldstreams are framed in meranti timber and clad with composite aluminium . As mentioned , our van had Cruisemaster coil suspension , rated to 2.8 tonne , with the van riding on 16in alloy wheels while 12in electric drum brakes provide the stopping power .
When I looked underneath , I noted extensive checkerplate protection for the water tanks . Basically , if it could be damaged by stones or debris while on the tracks , it was protected .
Along the offside , this van had an optional slide-out Dometic kitchen as part of the Rhino pack . Obviously , it connected to the van ’ s gas supply via a bayonet coupling , which had not just been slapped to the chassis rail , as you ’ d see on many vans . Rather , it was neatly protected by checkerplate – brilliant .
The rear bumper was equipped with two jerry can holders along with one spare wheel . And no , Goldstream hadn ’ t forgotten to give this van a reversing / driving camera !
SUMMING UP
I always feel as though caravans are better when the people who make them actually use their products . I happen to know that this was the case with Goldstream . That ’ d be why everything was so well protected – Goldstream takes its vans into the bush , damages things here and there , and sets out to rectify these issues . It ’ s a very good thing .
As far as compact , single-axle couple ’ s offroaders go , this is one of the better ones on the market . Highly recommended .
