PORTABLE LITHIUM POWER STATIONS
Over the last year , I ’ ve become a convert . Portable lithium power stations are brilliant . I spent some time with the Jackery Explorer 1000 Pro along with a couple of 80W SolarSaga panels , and have no problem recommending this unit .
I am currently between caravans , and so I spend a bit of time tent camping . As such , I need access to easy , reliable power . The Jackery comes with two switched 240V AC powerpoints , one switched cigarette-style 12V point , two switched USB A outlets , and two switched USB C outlets . It also has a light with three settings , an inbuilt MPPT controller , as well a digital display which provides the battery ’ s state of charge , the electrical output ( in watts ), and the input when it is being charged .
By way of testing , I fully charged the battery and plugged in my toaster , cycling it 11 times . After the 11th toasting , the Jackery had depleted to 53 per cent state of charge . Not bad .
It isn ’ t waterproof , so it must be kept out of the rain … but if you ’ re in need of portable power , this unit is worth a look . It ain ’ t cheap , but it performed as advertised .
End of the day , it ’ s about reliable power , so whether you opted for this unit or a similar one , such as the batteries from Bluetti , as long as it ’ s good quality and performs as advertised , that ’ s the main thing .
