ALDI HAS SOME GOOD STUFF FOR VANNERS
Looking for a way to keep cool but don ’ t have a Sirocco II fan inside your van ? Well , Lena Thompson swears by this $ 29 Adventureridge fan from Aldi . It was a hot day when we stepped inside Lena and Glen ’ s van and , I have to admit , this cheap , portable fan was doing a good job . The additional benefit , of course , is that it ’ s portable , so you could take it outside for a gentle breeze under the awning , or use it inside your house upon your return .
However , as you ’ d expect , it operates on 240V , so you ’ ll need to be either plugged in or have an inverter of sufficient capacity .
Lena swears by her ' Subway ' box .
By processing and freezing their fruit and veggies , Lena and Glen avoid losing them at border quarantine checkpoints ; however , there are some exceptions , so always double check !

THE ‘ SUBWAY ’ BOX
Finally , just as I thought that Lena and Glen Thompson couldn ’ t possibly have anything more to show me , Lena reached into her fridge to show me her ‘ Subway ’ box . It ’ s called that for obvious reasons : each compartment is filled with chopped salad items , ready to be turned into a sandwich . By organising their perishable sandwich / salad items in this way , the couple are optimising their fridge space – brilliant .
And if that ’ s not enough , Lena then showed me how she organises her van ’ s freezer , particularly the frozen fruit and vegetables inside zip-lock bags neatly organised inside a tub . By processing and then freezing these items , Lena and Glen are in no danger of losing them at quarantine checkpoints at state border crossings . If you ’ ve ever had to dump a load of fresh fruit just to cross the border ( and yes , there ’ s good reason for this requirement ), you ’ ll understand why this is such a great idea .
