Ron Galea had an upholsterer make this padded stoneguard for the front of his van , the very first Hilltop ever made .
AFTERMARKET STONE PROTECTION
Ron Galea of Albury , NSW , is the owner of the very first Hilltop ever built ! While he loves his van ( a common theme amongst Hilltop owners ), he had this interesting idea . Essentially , it involves a piece of padded vinyl that connects to a sail track that stretches the width of the van at the very front . The idea is to provide protection against stones and other road debris that might be flicked up as he tows the van . A series of press studs on either side prevent it from flapping in the wind .
Some caravan manufacturers will provide a similar stoneguard , but I haven ’ t seen too many done this well as an aftermarket add-on . Ron said he took his van to an upholsterer in Wodonga , who customised this stoneguard for his van and even fitted the sail track and press studs . The result looks factory-fitted . It ’ s a great way to protect the front of your van .
PIPE PROTECTION
Hank and Debbie Van Lammeren are the owners of a Hilltop Hotham , which suits their needs perfectly . However , Hank had done what should arguably be the first thing everyone should do when they buy a new caravan : he ’ d protected the piping underneath .
Pool noodles are particularly good for this . By cutting them to size and slitting them down the middle , you can wrap your pipes in this material and zip-tie them into place . Hank had used pool noodles to protect the drainage pipes as well as the gas lines – a good move .
Pool noodles have many uses !
