LETTERS FROM THE ROAD
TAKE AN AIR- COMPRESSOR TOO !
I read your list of essential RV items to take on the road and noted the tyre pressure monitoring system recommendation , with which I totally agree .
However , if your TPMS detects a soft tyre while driving in a remote area , you may need a compressor , or at least a hand-pump , to pump it up .
Compressors are also useful to reinflate tyres that have been deflated to assist with vehicle recovery , or after driving on sand .
They are also useful for blowing dust out of filters and other parts that can be affected by dust ingress .
For these reasons , I consider my compressor to be another essential piece of equipment .

I couldn ’ t agree more , Graham . An air-compressor is very important because , to be honest , I really would not want to use a hand or foot pump to re-inflate a car tyre ! – Ed
GAS STILL IMPORTANT
I refer to your editorial in issue 84 regarding embracing revolutionary all-electric vans and jumping onboard . I personally think there is a need for gas or diesel-fuelled appliances for the RV that spends most of the year in the shed or carport and only gets out during holidays as well as a few weekends away here and there .
These RVs do not need the added expense of such complicated and expensive electrical systems . While I embrace new technology and innovations within this industry , there needs to be balance for all budgets and users .
Keep up the great read . Mike Yarrow
BUYER BEWARE . I MEAN IT
I came to grief with the van I purchased because the private New South Wales seller had not properly stated the weight on his Victorian registration for 34 years , showing it as 990kg when it turned out to be 1880kg .
