TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
That afternoon we headed back across the bridge to check out the Pioneer Village Museum . The museum is volunteer-run , taking you back in time with the buildings built to the standards of the late 19th and early 20th centuries , showcasing artifacts from that era . There ’ s also a suspension bridge at the rear of the property leading you to bushwalking tracks .
After our museum visit , we took a path behind our holiday park that led us to the river beach , just underneath the Hampden Bridge . The water was refreshing and cool . We enjoyed watching the sunset behind the bridge .
If you ’ re into waterfalls , you can also take in Fitzroy Falls , where water plunges over 80m to the valley below . As the waterfall isn ’ t pet-friendly , we took turns to see the sights while Twyla was kept company in the forest carpark ( which has a fee ). Depending on your time and fitness level , there are a couple of tracks to the waterfall .
Whoever thought a bridge would stop us in our tracks ? We only scraped the surface of what you can experience of this beautiful area and town . If you ’ re heading that way , definitely visit .
