TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
As a newer pub had been built next door , the original pub is usually closed . We enjoyed a beer next door , and while sitting outside a volunteer offered to show us around Ettamogah Pub . Luckily , Twyla was allowed inside the pub too , so we ventured in as a family .
The pub walls and ceiling were covered in quirky memorabilia and props , inspired by the famous cartoon , with some Australian memorabilia spread around too . We took plenty of photos and family snaps , and of course , we enjoyed a beer inside the pub .
In the early evening , we returned to the new pub for dinner . Adam ordered pizza and I enjoyed the Chef ’ s Special of spicy ribs – which was mouth-watering ! The meals were a generous size , with Adam taking some pizza back to our van . As we were parked out the back , we could enjoy a couple more beers and not worry about driving . We took another walk around the grounds and checked out the Aviation Photo Gallery that was open .
By the time we got back to our van , there were probably another 20 vans parked in for the night , with plenty of room for more . We had a quiet night ’ s sleep and woke to a sunny morning to enjoy our coffee and breakfast .
We enjoyed our stay at the pub and plan to go back another time when we are passing through the region . We recommend that others visit the iconic pub too , to take in a bit of Australian history .
