RV TRAVEL
CALLIOPE RIVER REST AREA, QLD
If you can’t find anything in
Gladstone, Qld, on your way
north, the Calliope River Rest
area is your go-to spot.
This reasonably level and
grassy camping area is right
on the Calliope River and there
is plenty of room for a lot of
caravans and motorhomes.
However, being close to
Gladstone, it is a popular
weekend spot with young
locals, so pick a weekday
to stop, if you can!
If you do, the camp area
is located well off the Bruce
Highway, so it is respectably
quiet. The fishing is reportedly
very good here from those
who know, with a concrete
boat ramp right next to the
old bridge.
