Couples in their 60s ( and older ), retired from work , hitting the road in a 4WD with the caravan in tow , chasing an endless summer . It was unusual to see younger couples and families doing the same thing .
Either through good luck or good planning , you can time your stays to special events that happen in the local community .
Today , with the proliferation of platforms like Facebook , Instagram and TikTok , travellers have been able to share their experiences with a much wider audience , enticing a whole new generation to leave the big smoke behind and hit the road for good . Today , with many of these new travellers becoming social media influencers , the lifestyle has a very glamorous image . Unfortunately , for many who embark on the fulltime travelling lifestyle , the reality falls far short of the expectations set by the influencers .
