TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
After enjoying our meal , we jumped back into our campervan in search of a local walking attraction to burn off lunch . Being dog-free for the day allowed us the opportunity to walk through Cairns Botanical Gardens . The Gardens has an in-house café where we stopped to enjoy an afternoon treat , then we took in the flora of the area . The tropical oasis was a perfect way to end our first day in Cairns .
The Gardens had many trees , some rare , and plenty that we hadn ’ t seen prior to our visit . We also came across a couple of ‘ bush turkeys ’ while we wandered . The Botanical Gardens is worth a second visit – it ’ s a great free local attraction .
The following morning , we took the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway over the World Heritage-listed Barron Gorge National Park . With the scenic ride being 7.5km over the rainforest , we took plenty of photos and soaked in the spectacular views . We disembarked at Kuranda Village and explored the mountain town for the day . In the afternoon , we made our way back down to Cairns on the Kuranda Scenic Railway , where the heritage train took us past Barron Falls , over many bridges , and through plenty of tunnels .
We had a whirlwind of a visit of Cairns and cherish the memories we made there .
